Re: Corrosion - Titanium screw in Brass/Steel insert??

The scale that Sun posted is very useful, because the farther apart the materials you use are on the scale, the more likely you are to experience corrosion problems in saltwater. I built and used twintip boards with brass foot strap inserts and ss screws for many years, and corrosion was not much o...

Re: Corrosion - Titanium screw in Brass/Steel insert??

Weight for weight, Titanium would be stronger. Strength to weight ratio is better than steel. But with the same dimensions, these screws are lighter, thus barely of the same strength than their counterparts in steel. What kind of steel and what kind of titanium are we talking about here? Stainless ...

Re: Corrosion - Titanium screw in Brass/Steel insert??

By the way, are you sure Ti will be stiffer? Steel tends to have a higher modulus, so swapping like-for-like you will likely get a more flexible connection with Ti. Thank you! Also are you talking about elasticity or stressing the screws enough to bend them permanently with this modulus? Tensile st...

Corrosion - Titanium screw in Brass/Steel insert??

I'm interested in replacing some hydrofoil screws with titanium. I definitely don't want to mess up the inserts in my masts. The stainless steel version is a heli-coil embedded in the anodized aluminum Cedrus adapter. The brass is threaded insert embedded in carbon. The M6 stainless steel screws ten...

Re: How to self rescue and body drag with a wing

I chased my board about 3 km with this method, board always just out of reach. It was a day with a lot of chop so that may have helped pump the board downwind. It works but not always as fast as this video so: 1) Don't casually let your board go e.g. if you are switching with a friend thinking to dr...

Re: Kiters Demand Standardization valves, pigtails, etc.

Does anyone know if the red valve top part of the Ozone/Crazyfly (#3 on the chart) will screw into the bottom of the most used valve (#4 on the chart)? Is it the same size and do the threads match? Has anyone tried to do this? The slingshot/OR holes are smaller diameter than the Ozone. If somebody ...
