Re: US Coast Guard Rescue Responder Appreciation Day

Firefighters? Don't get me started. $150,000/year base salary for a mid-level position. 2-3 days of work a week. And you retire with 100% of your salary at 50 and get paid until the day you die. All that for a job that doesn't even require a college degree. They're stealing from the taxpayer. And w...

Re: Rebel 2012

[quote William and AlexandreBorges- As a guy living in the Columbia River Gorge where most launches can be sketchy at best and downright dangerous most of the time, I will often rig even 4 line kites on 5 lines. While our 4 line safety system is as safe as any 4 line system can get, it still require...

Re: Rebel 2012

In the North video, when he talks about the fifth line system and launching in sketchy places, is he referring to using the fifth line if things go wrong, as in Kitezilla's post: kitezilla Post subject: Re: Self launching and landing a 5 line c kitePosted: Tue Jan 19, 2010 9:13 am Very Frequent Post...

Re: North Rebel small size question

I switched to Rebels this season, have a 9, 12, and 16. Relaunch is super easy and the fifth line is great. The 16 is a 2008, they don't make a Rebel 16 anymore, but the kite will fly and relaunch in very little wind. I have no problem flying and relaunching it in less wind than I need to plane on a...

Re: Got A Decision To Make...

I've only used the HQ Rush Hydra 3M. Good kite, plenty of power to pull you on a longboard, although I'd be very careful, even a 3M can yank the hell out of you and I don't know how you would control that on a longboard. If you screw up you will faceplant on asphalt.

Re: First Bladder Repair

+1 on Tampa's remarks, also use a lot of talcum powder and if your leading edge material is light enough, consider marking the bladder, a long continuous mark on top so you can see if it got twisted going in.

Aquaseal, Tear-Aid, dyneema line, sailtape, are all available at West Marine. The price on Aquaseal seems to be high everywhere, don't know of any discount sources.

Re: Beginner on Eclipse Thruster! Safe?

Ok awesome! thats stoking to hear, I was really worried there for a bit. Sounds like itll be manageable, I'll just have to ride a bit harder and will be used to it in no time. Now I can go into my trip with confidence, I cant wait! I've got 5 months in S.America with nothing but free time and lots ...

Re: Wanna SUK

Hi Luke,

Bought one of Island Rider's Jimmy Lewis demos a few weeks ago, been taking it out on the bay and practicing my footing in various conditions. Today was a little extreme. I would like to try stand up kiting in some light wind conditions with flatter water.
