Re: Why are Kites so damn expensive

Is there a geek out there who can plot the average kite price for the premier brands indexed to inflation (which should roughly take into account higher material and labor costs)? I would guess that even indexed, it's drifting slightly up due to higher complexity and the market push for new features...

Re: Always problems with abs

back in my big air days, I did have a 6 pack and was a competitive swimmer. yet, as a weekend kiter, my abs would still hurt by day 2. multi-day trips for travel were rough and after about 3 days of 5 hour sessions I'd need a rest day. the fact is, assuming you are doing a stylish board grab, you ar...

Re: Drifter o neo for a beginner?

as a beginner, you will not be able to tell the difference between these two kites.

wave kites are nice beginner kites because they are forgiving to rider error. I do agree that wave kites are not great jumpers, but it is a while until a beginner's jumps are kite limited vs. skill limited.

Re: Kite advancements over the last 10 years

Hi All, I'm new to the forum and apologize if I'm bringing up a topic that's been discussed numerous times already. I've seen some discussions about this in different threads but nothing specific to the topic. For background I started kiting in 2006 and was in the sport until 2010 when I moved away...

Re: Left handed waves + reliable wind in June

I agree on Peru.

Also consider Barbados. A short flight for you and a nice friendly left. You can get in a sunrise session before work and then a 2nd one later in the day.

Re: Why dont people rig lines cross wind to the kite?

I always rig crosswind, if it's windy I use a hand scoop of sand to keep my lines in place. I can see why beginners would prefer upwind or downwind, it is easier to see if things are set up correctly. that is my default including the hand scoop. BUT there are a few beaches where everyone does downw...

Re: Big Air with Slingshot

So I got the Slingshot 10M Raptor a few months back, and the 9M a few days ago. I absolutely love the kite so far, but I am also aiming to take my kiting to competitions. I learned on the Rally and have a full quiver of RPMs that I regularly ride. The RPM has been a wonderful kite that has forced m...

Re: Advise on using Cabrinha Drifter for light wind kite foiling

one more comment: relaunch is zero factor for me buying a kite for foiling. For me, the key is a kite that will stay in the air and not need to be relaunched. If the kite is in the water and the wind is super light and you are in deep water usually drifting down wind, forget it anyway. you are swimm...

Re: Advise on using Cabrinha Drifter for light wind kite foiling

I learned to foil on a 9 drifter. It was fine and my favorite foiling kite until I got a little better and started pushing on the low end of wind. then the issues of needing a lighter kite become apparent. I eventually got an ocean rodeo roam (Aluula) and am extremely happy with it. It uses the same...

Re: Kite foiling set to die almost completely out as wing foiling takes hold

My original kite "pusher" said " You gotta try this." My pusher said the same. When I windsurfed, he said you gotta try this kitesurf thing. When I kitesurfed on a TT, he said you gotta try this surfboard. Then you need something new? You gotta try foiling. You want to try something stronger and li...
