Hi guys, I ended up getting the 5'5" Rocket Fish. Really nice board. My first session was in the bay with really gusty 15-35mph wind on my 7M Waroo. Works really well in chop. Had it out yesterday in 15-20mph on the 9M Waroo with a knee high wave. I had a blast on it. At 165lbs (75 kg) I think it mi...

I had the 2006 D-Wave and the lowend for me fit between my 132 Underground FLX twin and my 5'8" X 18.5" JL Surfboard. I rode all three boards back to back a couple of times in the same wind. For chop I'd take the surfboard. The D-Wave was a fun board but being a Surfer for 18 years or so I prefer th...

2 boards - Flat water and wakestyle = 132 X 39 Underground FLX Twin. Waves or lightwind = 5'8" X 18.5" JL Surfboard. 7M, 9M and 13M SLE kites. Main kite is the 9M.

I'd like to hear some comparisons between the 5'5" and 5'10" Rocket Fishes. I'm looking to replace my 5'8" X 18.5" JL surfboard. It has a low rocker and gets me upwind as long I get the board on a decent plane. I up and riding just after my 13M stays in the air. Tons more lowend then my 132 Undergro...

Agreed. Proper off the lip requires rear foot to be centered between the front and rear fins. For cruzing back upwind rear foot should be out of the strap and over the leading edge of the front fins. With your rear foot too far forward the board will track through the turn rather than snap the turn.

Anyone know if the 07 Rocketfish has stainless steel footstrap inserts? I hate plastic for mounting footstraps.

11M (12M 06) might do it. But... You will never miss a light wind day with a 13M (14M 06).

Depends how light you want to go.

The bigger kite is slower but definately acceptable for wave riding. Can always put 20M lines on it!

Thanks Guys! I have been leaning torwards the 5'5". Before the JL I rode the original 5'0" Rocketfish and it was too small for my liking. The 5'5" sounds decent.

LB - Do you think I'll lose any lowend on the 5'5" vs the JL?

07 Rocketfish 5'5" or 5'10?

I'm currently riding a Jimmy Lewis 5'8" X 18.5" surfboard and I'm looking to pickup a new board. I have my eyes on the 07 North Rocketfish. The board needs to serve two purposes. Obviously waves but also lightwind. Typical surf is knee to head high beach break waves. sideshore wind 10mph to 30 mph a...
