Re: Marks on board - please tell me what is the cause of this

Impact. It’s “funny” how things you don’t expect can ding or even puncture a board. I body dragged a few hundred feet in 8 knots and 6” chop on my fst FireWire surfboard wearing an engine harness with carbon slider bar, pretty low profile, but the sharp-ish edges of the carbon bar dug holes in the d...

Re: Zeeko Spitfire Hydrofoil

Am I dreaming or did nico come in this site last week and tease a carbon spitfire fuselage that would work with the existing carbon mast? Can’t find such a post now... figment?

Re: Pigmenting epoxy

Depending on the pigment you may or may not be able to get opaque color without adding so much pigment strength is affected, especially with thin layers. I think I’ve seen some epoxy pigments that say they are ok for strength at up to 2% volume, if that helps...

Re: Moses 2018

Not even close. The wings have different profiles... ... I have riden both foils and they are as different as night an day. -- Gunnar Sorry, was speaking of bigger ketos wave wing 1200 cm, not the 790cm^2 one you depict. The anhedral arc with flatter tips is the main obvious similarity. I have no s...

Re: Slingshot H4 Wing

Glad you liked. Used one once, nice and stable while going slow, and it is kinda slow in general. It didn’t completely click for me as it was on a short mast and I’m not used to that. My friend who owns it digs it though, I would like to try with the 30” mast myself.

Re: Moses 2018

The 633 resembles Ketos wave wings in many parameters. There is a little griping about this if you dig through the French foil forum. Have not heard of any formal accusations of stealing though, whoever the designer might be. Design elements of wing shapes, like boat hull shapes or surfboard shapes,...

Re: Moses Onda 633, The Fix !

SK shim is to increase stab angle, right? This would make the foil lift even sooner (if possible), increase pitch stability and turning rate, and probably decrease speed. The mast shim would not do these things, just move center of gravity. Not sure a mast shim would affect anything else, though it ...

Re: Will it be strong enough

If you are gentle, 200gsm carbon cloth is usually reported to be adequate. I’m not so gentle so would do more at least around standing area. Extra patches around foil mount on bottom are a good idea. Also worth considering to feather in a strip of the 3mm foam from back to front foot position on the...

Re: Lightwind kiteboard build, planing ahead

For your weight make it 15-20mm thick instead. 0-90 300gsm cf over all top and bottom. Plus 45/45 300gsm Between outer foot strap screws through center. If you want more flex use glass instead and maybe an extra layer on the top. Skip the PU rails unless you want it to weigh an extra pound or two. O...

Re: Zeeko Spitfire Hydrofoil

Maybe you should get the base plate with collar. You would have to shim it to match the angle of the spitfire base, but it would be stronger... or try to land more gently.
