Santa wrote::o how does it work the new leash system????

Michael
At first glance it looks like the classic ring-ring frontline, with a safety leash sliding around the bottom on a ring.

But on a closer look, it could be a swivel just below the QR, and then two holes through the bar, just like on the kiteproshop bar.
Then the frontlines will NEVER twist, which is perfect.

Only problem seems to be, that there are no (visible) release for the safety release ?
But this is maybe a prototype - it will come of course.

Nice idea, if above is correct !

Swivels always tends to have problems rotating under load though...
But it will always work, if you just pull the bar towards you after having rotated the bar :thumb:

If by chance this system has problems rotating, it looks it could be converted to the Airush design which is foul proof. The lower part where it rotates around the chicken loop is identical to the Airush spinning leash. All you would need to do with this bar is move the leash from the front lines to the back lines.

I tested the new Gaastra bar a few weeks ago, and... it works!

As said above by Peter Frank, the lines untwist as soon as you pull the bar towards you.

To release the safety, you pull on the red loop; it's the same as this year's but it's mounted the other way round (so instead of pulling it towards you, you push it away).

The components used are pretty much the same as in this year's bar; only difference is the swivel and the double depower line (+hole in bar).

Furthermore, the diameter of the bar will be constant again (vs thicker in the middle as in this year's bar), as it appears riders prefer that (not me I think!).

What I am looking forward to are the new Gaastra boards... I saw the prototypes, and they look great!!! Please get them out soon!!!!

That would be nice. I'd like to see the kites "in reality". On the first look the new design/colours doesn't impress me too much...

I heard that the boards will be significantly lighter than the 2003 series...

Actually I must say that personally I like the "old" 2003 better.
The birds where I kite probably disagree. They seem the be scared like hell when I fly with my red 16,5. It more or less looks like two huge eyes.
