how are people measuring jumps?
it looks to me, in this pic at least, that the distance from the water to the rider is close to the distance from the rider to the kite.
Wouldn't that put the height of the rider closer to 70ft?
just wondering

yea bubba's right, but also you must take into account that the distance you are measuring from the kite to the rider is not perfectly vertical - so its a little shorter, besides those look like very short lines from this distance, but i dont think any rider who wants high jumps would go with anything under 27m. I think hes higher than 45feet though, maybe pro riders should start wearing GPS units =(.

Toby,
where did you find the pic?
was there any mention of the size of kite? or wind conditions?
40 ft seems to be some sort of limit (in judging height),
would also be interesting to know what sort of hangtime the rider got?

I found iut on the daily weather report and pic on
http://www.colonawatersports.com
Aaron uses 15m lines on a Storm2 8.0
So no wonder he looks like he is as high as a kiteline lenght.
15m should be correct, it's damn high....

I think a interm. kiter can jump up to 5-8m easily, because of the new kites power. Easy to measure it if there is a windsurfer around. Jump up and look down if you can see the top of the sail its about 5 m high. Also the waves helps a lot.
I always feel my jumps are over 10 m high and I go out and asked my friends how big was it and the answer around 5. But dosent matter in the pub at night it goes up to 10 m again.
BUT 15 m in choopy condition ????!!!!.

Zol: good one about the pub!
Aaron jumps behind the sandbar.
The wind comes over it and just behind it it's very flat.
Great spot for jumping! 15m is very likely when powered up and a good techique. And be sure Aaron has a good technique....
