Cabrihna Icon which size ?

Postby Sesmo » Wed Jan 07, 2004 4:05 pm

Hi All,

First of all, I just registered and this forum really rocks.

I am a beginner Kiter, do not go upwind yet and thinking to buy a Cabrihna Icon board.

Which size would you suggest I should take knowing that my weight is 150 (67 kg).

Thanks in advance for any recommandations.

Cheers

I started on a directional surf board. My second board was a Litewave 169. I quickly moved on to the Cab Lab Rat 150. I am now on the Rat and a Litewave 115. I haven't ridden an Icon, but I have heard that the 130 is too small. I weigh 145 lbs. I would recommend the 150, but I have to admit, sometimes I wish my Lab Rat was a 140. I never use my Litewave 169 anymore. It's waaaaayyyyyy ttttoooooooo BBBBIIIIGGGG and heavy.

Good Luck

Get the 130 if you are not a heavyweight...it works for all size kites in all conditions.

If you want a real board, get the Slingshot 122 SX or Misfit 122....super sweet

JimmyC,

The question was posted by a beginner that doesn't yet go upwind. The 130 is probably not his best board. Eventually, I agree with you completely. Depending on athleticism, local conditions, past experiences, etc., I feel it is better to walk before you run. Then, run like Hell!!!

Thanks Hampton,

I was already thinking of the Icon 150, but now I am pretty sure.

You are right, for my first board it's better to walk than run.

Cheers

Go the 140, the 150 is a big monster for your weight, once you get the hang of it you will be glad you got a board a little shorter. I'm on the 130 and it rocks, its all about being powered up

Icon 140

I ride the Icon 140 as my only board, it works great with my 16m2 and my 12m2. I have tried both 150 and 130. The 130 is great with good wind but I cant stay planning a lot longer with 140 when the winds is not strong enough for 130. The 150 feels to big. For a beginner its good but I think you will want something smaller after 5-10 times planning.

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions.

I finally ordered the 140 Icon it seems to be the good compromise.

Cheers

Hi Sesmo.
You did the right thing there.
Myself (85Kg) ride the 140 and it,s good in most conditions.

Bit old, but the cabrinha prankster 150ish is a great board for your level. Its what i used at your level, in a lot of ways in behaves like a much smaller board, it looks cool, and will be cheap to pick up now.
