so my girlfriend wants me to go with her to Mardi Gras, and i ask the only pertinent question to myself.. Can I Kite?
I know there's water there, but that's about it.. anybody?

To answer your question in ease, not really. Kiting in New Orleans is more of a random thing. You can kite on Lake Ponchartrain but the wind has to be blowing just righ. Also, because the whole lake is only about 10ft deep, it makes for very choppy riding when the wind is on.
All of the kitesurfers here in New Orleans usually go to our local spot in Mississippi called Henderson Point. It is a 45 minute drive from New Orleans and is on the Gulf Coast of MS. It is a great beach, miles long for great downwinders and very very wide. The most kites we ever have out there is 5 or 6 at a time. It is flat water for about 1/2 mile out.
