Unwanted intrusion

Postby Nico » Wed Apr 28, 2004 5:11 am

Hi All.
Are any of you guys getting unsolicited advertising bullshit from Bestkiteboarding ?
On a daily basis I am getting advertising from them in my mail, and am worried about the unsubscribe address, as I was told not to open up anything I do not trust.
How do these people get your mail address?. If it is through this forum? then I think they should be blacklisted and banned from it.
Toby, any comments ?
Nico

the unsubscribe is perfectly safe, porn spam unsubscribes links are just traps for more spam.

if your really conerned about it just jump on best web site online chat and ask them to manually remove it or email them, not particually a big deal....

it is from the contest and newsletter sign up I assume, not from this site.

Just send them a mail if you don't want it.

A friend of mine has been getting junk mail from 'Best' and he never even signed up for anything, heck he doesn't even know anything about kitboarding , however I was browsing some kite sites on his computer a couple of weeks ago , and I must have looked 'Best's web site. But how the hell did they get his email address ???? Through cookies or something?? i think he uses outlook express.... Best should defo sort this one, cause this is totally unsolicited...

+ I seem to get most of their mails twice, one from them and one from Brownee,

I think most of us know who bestkitebaording are by now.... even my friend knows who they are :-? and no he doesn't want to get into kiteboarding( can't seee why), So maybe they could relax a bit on the heavy marketing, I realise they want to hit the newbies too, but they'll obviously find out in time with interaction with kiters at their local spots.

It cracks me up sometimes. Some people will sign up for a free trip to the Bahamas (or where ever it is this time), would gladly accept the prize money for spending. The entire time knowing that the last guy who won also won a complete quiver of kites..... all of this, and they bitch about recieving a news letter from the very company that is offering the trip. This is why this forum is sinking into the ground, not because of Best, but because of idiots who think this is the Best customer complaint department.

http://www.bestkiteboarding.com/

is the link you should use if you have a problem with best.

Hi Ian.
Thanks for your great explanation.
Tell me, do you always call people idiots that do not share your point of view, or is it only the people that are not as obviously besotted as you are about best ????????
Regards, and good wind to you.

You need to give someone your email address for them to have it, they can't glean it from cookies because cookies are unique for each website.

You signed up for the contest and now you are getting their advertising, just go unsubscribe. There's no reason to be paranoid.

No, I respect differing opinions. I call idiots idiots. GO to Best and bitch to them about your problem.

Besotted- Adj. dull or dazed, as from drinking liquor.
Webster's New world dictionary and student handbook, Published by The World Publishing Company. 1996

Try:
ebullient, ecstatic, jubilant. Those words should fit nicely in place of "besotted" to help explain how I feel about Best.

BTW, I don’t ride Best now, but I am selling my motorcycle this weekend so raise the cash to take part in the Buy 2 kites get #3 free to complete my quiver. I don’t see what that has to do with anything, but I figured I would make it an issue before anybody else does.

and good wind to you.
