NAISH THORN OR CAUTION REDLINE?

Postby SumbawaII » Mon May 10, 2004 4:15 pm

I am an intermediate kiter, weigh about 81 kilos/180 pounds. Fly 12/16/20 sizes.

I am looking for a great all-round board, something I can use in high winds but might also be able to ride south of 14 kts with a big kite.

I hear the Naish Thorn 129 rocks. Could I pull it off?

I also hear the Caution redline 132 is great.

Does anyone know how these compare in weight, finish, performance, etc?

Any other suggestions?

Thx guys

I have used the 142 redline, its now my mates.
A very nice all round board with good flex and pleanty of rocker, excellent construction with quality hardware.

Ride was supper smoth, very easy on the legs and soft landings, great in waves and chop. Only negative is little slow to plane due to its constant rocker, but this is made up for in its ability to ride real easy. A very nice board. No experience with a Thorn.
Cheers.

I got to demo a Thorn 129 and loved it. First of all the footraps were the best I have ever ridden. The board handled chop well and held an edge for jumps very nicely. It has more fin than I am used to, (but everyone says my boards don't have big enough fins). It is quite light for a Naish board (older ones were often heavy) and has bullet proof construction.
When the wind lightened I started sinking and then tried a Thorn 141.. another excellent board for either a bigger rider or lighter winds.

I don't know the Caution board.

The Caution 132 Redline rocks. Very quick planing smooth and fast. I love this board. The accessories are top notch as well. Many, many good reviews of the Caution boards on here.

i switched from a jamie pro to a redline 132. the redline is awesome. i miss the weight of the jamie pro, the redline is ever so slightly heavier, but the redline won't stall in a turn the way the jamie pro does, carves a million times better

get the redline, you won't be disappointed.
