Best kitesurfing tip ever.

Go for kitesurfing lessons when starting out! Do it before you even buy a kite, it could save you a lot of money in equipment and hospital bills.

I have just written this article to provide boat crew and rescue personnel with information on how to handle kites and conduct boat rescues of kitesurfers http://kitesurfing-handbook.peterskiteb ... ling-kites

Feedback is welcome

:thumb: to the rider. Handled the situation in a totally cool-headed, 100%-in-control manner. He was probably riding in suicide to begin with, thus switching the leash on the front flag-out line. His bar looks modified, though I'm not that familiar with SS bars - so I might be mistaken. A great example of of "keeping calm and knowing your gear" is better than the "magical-red-eject-button". No safety-button can replace the experience and a working head on one's shoulders.

Found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Am1y_m2g1Y don't know if it has been posted yet but I didn't look at every pages. Worst case scenario, it's a "nice" reminder to take lessons and know your gear before going on the water.

4 lessons to take away from watching this one :

1. Know your ability and don't launch or ride in conditions far beyond what you can handle
2. Poor launch spot to go over-powered, no downwind safety margin with the trees & vehicle right down-wind of the launch spot - unobstructed distance downwind is your friend
3. Keep the kite low and out to the water side - that kite-at-zenith clip is like cocking a loaded gun and sticking the barrel in your mouth
4. Release to leash when you lose control - fighting to regain control is pulling the trigger of that loaded gun

Bet his kite buddies felt like crap for letting it happen. Wonder if any of them :
- suggested a smaller kite would be the call
- recommended launching 2 or 3 kite-line lengths farther upwind of the trees and vehicle
- told him to keep it low and out over the water, not up at zenith while on land
- offered to hold his harness for the launch, so they would have been there to shout release-it when he lost control

Better to be safe and go kiting than be driving your friend to the hospital and feeling partly responsible.

Made this to help those trying to learn or trying to teach. It is a 3D .pdf, so it won't work on your phones. Also, I might make a few patterns, like figure 8 and a power or J Stroke...
