Yes 3 struts is enough. Have flown the 09 Ozone light and RPM which both have 3 struts. The Ozone is lighter on the bar and faster turning.
I suggest you try both kites before you buy.

The RPM 14 is a sweeeeet kite, relaunches great , turns great, maybe not as low end as some but i loved it, might even trade in my SB3 14 for one.

The RPM's are super fun kites. 12 is the largest I have flown, and I bought it after a demo. Very C-like in feel. The 8 is just stupid fun--bought that one too. Kiteloops are easy because the RPM's come through the turns with fast constant power so the kite is pulling you up, when you are coming down--love that!
Relaunch has been excellent thus far, including relaunch from a full release with kite tumbled several times and an invert that I popped out--easy by a yank to front lines. I did not expect to be able to relaunch, and was really impressed when the kite basically sorted itself out when you yank on the backs. It must have rolled twice.
I am trying some unhooked again for the first time in 6 years. The kite inspires confidence, in me at least.
I am not affiliated with anyone, buy my own kites, and couldn't care less what others are on. As a point of reference I was not that into the 2008 Rev, or the T-series kites--not direct enough of a feel for me. Loved the 06 Vegas too.

What is the low-end of the RPM 14m?
Say as compared the SB3 14m, the same? Couple miles-per-hour lower or higher?

The new 2010 is still on lock down for the public to check out but it will come with the industry standard push release CL. Anything that bugs you about the current bar will be probably changed for the 2010. I really getting excited for this piece of equipment and it is really gonna change some things... Innovation, Simplicity, Performance.... ISP.
But for those that haven't seen the new RPM bar; It is by far the cleanest SS bar to date... Still light years ahead in terms of safety, bar feel, Simplicity, and overall performance.

Low end of the SB3 should be just a bit better due it being a Bow and the RPM being a Open-C. But with that said I believe the RPM will be much lighter in the air so in turn giving you very good low end performance for a kite that has more of its DNA coming for a C then a Bow. If your looking for total low end performance Bow's have that dialed...
For me and my weight 165lb, I can get the RPM 14M with a glide or 6'2" in about 11-13 knots. The enclosed photo does show some great light wind kiting. Because if that Paraglider in the background is out you know its pretty light out and steady...
