anyone know of a good way to carry a knife on your harness or body in case you need to cut out of your lines in a hurry? any recommendations on harnesses, knives, or combinations would be greatly appreciated. tucker.

I think the knife pouches should use a hard plastic type of case or liner. They're are next to impossible to get out of the tiny little pouch, which makes them useless in an emergency.

Do a search using as a keyword; "Hook Knives...don't bet your life on them!"
and using Kitezilla as the author. Many ideas are presented there.

I have rigged one on each side of my harness... will post pic to show you. secured, but easy reach.

I have the Maui knife as well. The pouch has a loop on the back so you should be able to attach it to the webbing on your harness.
I found that the velcro attachment is not enough to keep it in the pouch so I brought one of those elasticated coiled bungees for holding keys. You can get them at the chandlers for a couple of quid.
I got a bright red one so it's easy to see. I've never had to use a knife in an emergency situation yet, but I reckon if I did I would probably fumble it and drop it, especially getting dragged through the water at warp factor 9 and flapping like a chicken - so that's why I got the bungee cord.

thanks for all of the help. had a bad situation the other day and did not have the knife in an accessible spot. made it out fine but just got me thinking there has to be a better way.

I've got a Wenoka (sp?) dive knife in a hard plastic sheath on on LF Luxury harness. I've got the sheath attached to the straps for the hook. I just have to slide the knife on the straps while tightening it up. Haven't had to use it yet, but wouldn't bet my life on a little crappy hook knife. Find it hard to believe that I could cut anything when the shit hits the fan with a tiny little hook knife on the back of my harness..... The dive knife is right there on the front of my harness, easy to grab and sharp as hell.
