Bindings / Boots for Kitesurfing Boards?

Postby kiteguy23 » Fri Feb 05, 2010 4:47 am

Hey guys,

I want to get some good bindings for my underground board.

Unfortunately, I kitesurf on lakes so its not that easy for me to get in and out of bindings so i'm looking for recommendations of bindings that are EASY to get in and out of FAST, if possible.

I know nothing that will be that easy but what are your opinions? Lace vs velcro? And will i need a plate for my board for them to fit?

I don't think an underground board is ideal for bindings, its not designed to take them. They do a custom model for bindings, but the standard ones wouldn't be suited. (to short and not enough rocker)

As far as bindings go, if you are not kiting in salt water, the CWB bindings would be the easier to get in and out. They have a level that opens the binding right up.

They may fit, you could check the hole spacing on the board and compare them with the bindings. Bindings normally come in 6", 6.5" or 8" (different brands and the years) spacers so you should be able to find one to fit, the question is just how well it will work from a riding experience perspective.

LF Ultra/Unions! Cheap, long lasting and easiest to get in/out. Work with 6", 6.5'' and 8'' spacing and you can always drill them to fit any board.

I fitted some LF Escalades to an Underground FLX with only a little bit of filing on the base plate. As long as you get a boot with room to drill the plate you should be OK.

Most boots are reasonably easy to get out of. I just loosen them whilst riding, come into the shallows, sink the board and pull my feet up sharply with the kite above me. If you think you'll need to get out any quicker than that then maybe your local spot isn't the best place to get used to boots.

Best bindings info over at www.kite scoop.com (without the space - Toby doesn't like them being mentioned so changes the link).

Most new boots come with 6inch spread as standard which is the same for kiteboards, as fred says the scoop is the best place to ask, there's a lot of good info on there. But read around before you post, otherwise you might not follow the etiquette properly and you will get flamed

Theres a whole forum for this. It's called ^kite*scoop^ look it up you'll get a lot more help on this topic there. Come join the darkside. stay away from hindge tech on CWB. Its super vulnerable to rusting even on the more recent models. It also adds quite a bit of weight to an already heavy object.

"http://kite scoop.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5647&p=60788#p60788"

I added a space and also the quotes

wow its retarded that Toby or whoever changes the url to kindergarden.com when you don't add that space in there. Total BULLSHIT. That just makes me want to go to KITE SCOOP.com even more!

RONIX. Light, comfy. Built for 6" but adapaters are available to fit other spreads.

Most guys are getting the Relik or ONE.

If you need some in Hawaii - pm me

Ian
