Beginner, what to choose

Postby GreenRider » Fri Apr 30, 2010 7:38 pm

Hello,

my name is Urban, I am 19, I am from Slovenia and I plan on learning to kite.
After I take lessons I will want to buy my own gear and here is where I need your help.

I've been thinking about buying two kites and boards, one for light winds and one for heavier winds, which will probably be more freestyle oriented.

Would this be a good combo?

For light wind I've been thinking about Cabrinha Crossbow IDS or Flysurfer Speed 3 because they're both fast kites. For board I was thinking of just getting somethnig like Cabrinha Plasma.

For bigger winds I don't even know yet what my style will be like, will it be freestyle, freeride...
I think it will be freestyle but let's leave this one open.

Do you think Crossbow and Plasma is a good combination for a beginner? I would not like to spend a lot on a gear that I will only use for a year.

Thank you for your answers!

after you take your lessons you, most likely, will be re-phrasing your questions totally different and eliminate most of them at all.

find a good instructor, and he/she willl tell you a lot, if you just ask. start with IKO licenced ones, then check info on forums. i've been going through this forum a lot of times, and there are tons of topics like yours, with an answers.

good luck!
