It's interesting to note that NO ram airs (including FLYSURFER)..... no NOT ONE.... feature anywhere near the top of PKRA rankings in ANY discipline. www.pkra.info

Yes, it's true: Ram airs crashed in Freestyle, Wave, and Speed.

Interestingly, ram airs CrAsHed in RACING. If one discipline could discern subtle aerodynamic differences in kites, it is racing. Ram airs like Spleene and Flysurfer are/were barely competitive on upwind legs and a downright liability on downwind legs. No serious racers use ram airs.

Sebastian Bubman and Gunnar Biniasch, the great Flysurfer Hopes, both crashed. Note to the Bubmeister: You should have taken my advice 5 years ago and traded your flying sleeping bags in for inflatables. Your pro career is suffering because of your kites. You could be in the top 10 with an inflatable. The overhyped and semi-hysterical predictions by Flysurfer for the Bubmeister in 2008, following his minor victory in Germany, have amounted to nothing. Shame.

Ram airs simply can't compete with inflatables because.... they ARE aerodynamically inferior.

Pumpy.
Hi Dude,

Thanks for giving me platform for posting my Teamriders results this year. ;-)

First off I would like to say that you are right about the PKRA. But then again, our race team competed in only one Race this year as they were concentrating on the KTE. But Christine did come second in Sankt Peter Ording and even me still recovering from a serious back injury rounded out the top 10.

So here are the Results for 2012:

Christine Bönniger:

Kite Tour Europe Womens Racing Champion
German Racing Champion, German Vice-Champion Freestyle
5th at the Race Worlds in Cagliari

Benni Bölli:
4th Kite Tour Europe Race
German Race Vice-Champion

Emmanuel Norman:
German KLB Freestyle Champion
German KLB Race Vice Champion
1st. KLB BKSA Freestyle UK WestwartHO
1st KLB Open Berlin Airtime
1st KLB Open Berlin Race
1st KLB Open Berlin Freestyle
1st Aloha Kitecup/Baltrum Airtime
1st International Snowkite Championship Snowboard Wasserkuppe 2012
1st Freestyle Deutsche KLB Meisterschaft Fanö 2012
1st Belgische Kitelandboarding Meisterschaft 2012
1st KLB -Meisterschaft Race Münsterappel 2012
1st BKSA KLB Meisterschaft Essex UK 2012
2nd Race Deutsche KLB Championship Fanö 2012

Pascal Lohman:
German KLB Race Champion

Dylan van der Meij:
Man of the Damn Junior Champion

Gunnar:
Currently 3rd IKA Ranking Slalom.

There are many more, but I am now tired of typing.

To keep up to date Pumpy you can always check out www.flysurfer.com. There you will find the results as they happen.

NEWS FLASH: "Janey Smith wins a kite comp flying a one line diamond-shaped kite with streamers and a picture of Mickey Mouse on it. The field consisted of her 3 year old brother flying a Winnie-the-Pooh kite and her mum flying a pair of used Y-front underwear on the end of some fishing line."

Ram lovers INSIST on trumpeting ram air wins in obscure, tinpot, 3rd tier comps.... Why? Because they can't cut it in the big comps. Ram Airs (like the Flysurfer Speed) continue to perform inadequately compared to inflatables. The reason.... Ram Airs are aerodynamically inferior compared to inflatables.

The proof is seen in top level competitions like the PKRA Freestyle. No ram airs ever make it into the elite levels, ie the top 20.

Ram lovers continue to claim crackpot 3rd tier competition results as evidence of the adequacy of ram airs, but don't be deceived. The reason ram lovers have to compete in obscure or unpopular events is because they can't cut it at the elite level comps. Elite competition tests the lift, consistency, speed, manoeuvreability, range, and general aerodynamic handling of a kite. Ram lovers claiming success in OBSCURE events or course racing reminds me of the dorks at school who couldn't make the football team, so chose to become experts at ping pong.

Ignore the lies. Ignore the propaganda. Ram airs are aerodynamically inferior compared to inflatables.

The European Tour and the Worlds and the German Championships are crackpot 3rd Tier competitions?

http://www.internationalkiteboarding.or ... _Women.pdf

And freestyle really shows the performance of a kite?

You are a very funny dude, pumpy.

Hi Pumpy,

Sebastian did not have time to compete this year. He did something much cooler:

Check this out:
