Youp,
we planning to go in thailand this month december, and were thinking of Hua Hin as a kitesurfing destination.
On 1 website, it is said that wind blows in this season 6-10 days in cycles. Has anyone more details about that ? How many days of no wind between the cycles.. ?
On windguru, the forecast at the moment is very low, 2 to 5 knots.. Someone said that this is thermal wind so a 7 knots there can be ok..
We have no gear so looking to rent,
Do you think that Hua Hin will be a nightmare good to kite, or do u know better spots with rental in thailand ?
thanks !

Hua Hin should be your best bet for kiting.
Many school and shops, who also rent.

When I was there, there was definite thermals coming in the afternoon, and all the kiters would pile out into the water. Can't help with season though... we were there in March/April IIRC

Feb-April is probably the best time. There is a thermal effect, but it's not particularly strong. You need a big kite especially if you are >80 kgs or more.

December usually isn't too bad although this year has been a wash-out so far. It's usually 6-8 day cycles with maybe 3 in between. February is the transition month switching North to South, March/April are the better months I'm 80kg's and use a 10/12m RPM at this time. It's a thermal wind as opposed to the Northerly which is a cool wind in the morning with lumpy seas,a shore dump and not a great deal of beach.
There are places to rent, Pak Nam Pran has more beach, maybe a slightly better wind and is 30mins South

February to April is good. Make sure you have a 12 or 14 m and a reasonable sized board. Wind often builds in the afternoon. If i were gonna pack 2 kites would be 9 and 12 for sure.

Early in the season, Chumphon is a better bet. As others comment, Hua Hin is best February-April.
For more accurate Windguru forecast, look at nearby Pranburi's, which is corrected for local conditions.
Windguru doesn't account for the strong thermals we have later in the season. Typically off by 2 wind strengths in Hua Hin.
No wind at the moment
. Should have kicked in already.
