Hi,
Here are KITEAID, we are always testing and trying new products for your repair needs.
Here is a quick video of how we do a simple UV test on a prototype before even applying them to a kite.
Hoping to put these new repair prototype products through the ringer next week with Dimitri of Epic Kites! The only problem, won't get much testing on his kites because I hear they are VERY durable...
If you are in Cape Hatteras next week, be sure to look for the KITEAID Flag at Jockey Ridge Beach.
A little humour for a Monday morning never hurt anyone...
Check out the conclusion to the video above!
Stephan uses the KITEAID Clear Sail Repair tape on this Epic kite prototype
He used ripstop canopy material from unknown sources to replace the missing section...
This is not TearAid. It does not stretch like Tearaid does. When repairing your sail/canopy, you want to keep the stretch in your repair very low otherwise you will lose responsiveness. If the product would stretch, the shape of your kite would change... This is why KITEAID Clear Sail tape uses the materials that it does. It has low elongation but is still very flexible. This in addition to a permanent UV pressure sensitive adhesive, makes it ideal for on-the-beach repairs.
This product is the only product of it's kind on the market. The reason why regular dacron tape does not work on strut repairs is because the pressure sensitive adhesive cannot hold the pressure. It eventually shears off under normal inflation pressures.
The only adhesive product that can hold a strut tear closed under normal pressure is a thermoplastic adhesive. This is why KITEAID uses this type of adhesive rather than a pressure sensitive adhesive for it's LE and Strut Repair patch.
Enjoy the videos!
Regards,
The KITEAID Team

Great job KITEAID. This is one reason why we include this product in all our EPIC kite bags.
