Ion makes a kid specific harness. Called the Ripper. It is soft, not just a shrunk down version of an adult harness. It also has removable leg straps. A must for the snow, and pretty good idea with kids on the water too.

I have a 4m Viron for my kids. Very nice kite, and if short arms are a concern, you can always shorten the depower throw a little bit. The safety is top notch, and it is virtually indestructable. Like Seb said, can't imagine a better trainer. Very civilized.

You said she was seven. Unless she is big, a 4m is more than enough for now. In winds enough to have the kite fly nicely, a 4m will be more than enough. It can still pick my kids up, they both weigh about 80lbs.

Read: take it very easy with a seven year old, to start! Lots of time!

I've taught young people on the Junior Pro and it's the best you'll see. The bar has been thought out for young bodies and their arm reach. Kudos to Epic for actually making gear specific for youngsters and not just smaller versions of big people kites. What I really like about the Junior pro is that it inspires confidence given the bar safety. And as she grows, it can be a good higher wind kite, compatible with the Epic standard bar.

Test one out if you can, or contact Dimitri for a demo.

Hi again and thanks for alot of good answers.

I imagen that inn the beginning maybe even first years, she will not enter the water with a board, but we will mainly focus on having all the basics of the "kite riding" perfected on land, and therefore a Viron will more suitable than the Junior Pro.

Also its a cheeper solution, and maybe both the 4 and the 6 can be bought, if this is something she fancyies.

A very good tip about that Ion harness aswell. I will check it out.

Thanks again.

It may sound silly, but kids can have a blast body dragging in the snow. Great for kite control when starting out, and easier than chasing them in the water.
