Why don´t you get a test ride? just call "Borste" down in Lomma, he is the Blade importer in Sweden.

I have the FL V1 and the bar pressure is a lot higher (like 2-3 times) then the Switch Element. I dont know if its the bar itself though because the grip is a bit slippery (very much so compared to the Switch bar!) and I´m planning to ad hockey grip tape on mine when the season beginns, just for testing.

Urban, 3 times more than Element ? that would make the pressure more than Nitro V1 that has about double the element bar pressure to me. Are you happy with kite otherwise ? You have Version 1 and this year its V2 ?I can get a good deal if i " pre-order" a 2013 from Anders at Nolimits. Not sure he has a 2013 test kite.

Calbra,
Thanks for the info- sounds promising. I know its hard to guage bar pressure- can you compare with another kite ? I like to ride one handed a lot on my strapless surfboard, so i want to sheet and steet with one hand.

the Unibar looks good on the site- i can use it with other kites because of front line flagging and low V point on front lines.

I have never concidered this kite because it was called Fat Lady and i thought it would be FAT leading edge- But when is see design i like idea of thin LE, 3 thin struts and moderate aspect ratio.

I am also considering a Core XR2 LW 17m kite-

Problem up here is it is nearly impossible to get to test kites. So i have to go on recommendations.

Well, 3 times is maybe a bit steep estimate but it is a lot higher. I realy like the kite, it is fast turning for a 17, faster than my old Naish Helix 14 for sure! It is even dooable in the waves. Very happy with it.

you can ride without any problem with one hand only, i do it the same also with strapless surfboard.

about the Fat Lady,, its only the name of the model, the kites it´s not fat at all :D

just to you know, the leading edge is thinner than the Blade Trigger 14m, you can see that info in the website,

in my opinion, you can buy a Fat Lady and i bet that you will love them and have no regrets. but if you have a chance, try to test it ;)

The new fat lady is a whole different kind of animal man.
Accelerates to the edge like the new triggers,
and is totally rock solid in the air.
Turns very well with the Unibar and depowers very nicely
for strapless riding.
But it seems to love the torque of a twin tip and has quicker pop
and more vertical lift...very easy to adapt to, you forget its a huge kite
and that its sub 14kts out cause you are fricken juiced man!
Re-launch is way fast...its ready before you are.
That compact mid aspect shape rotates fast on the water.
I'm going to have to modify my strut mount for the reduced diameter struts,
I had a lot of strap flapping around.
Bar pressure is less, but the feel is more direct with no mush at all.
You won't be dissapointed by the new Fat Lady...she is amazing!

So, compared to the previous version, the new kite is lower aspect and yet has better upwind/forward flying/vertical lift performance. Assuming it's all true, what does the trick? A thinner profile?

Thats a good question...for MOMI.
My observations so far...
You have to really pump it hard, so its a stiffer skeleton.
The middle strut is thinner than the mid strut on my 2013 9m Trigger,
like WAY thinner.
-and the draft is very pronounced.
More lift and less drag perhaps.

The wave setting pig tail is gone, no adjustable bridal.
Yet it drifts better than before and feels like its way more reactive.

This kite is special, and I plan on doing a showdown with Osprey1 to see who gets the lightwind
trophy, the 17m Cloud or the V2 Fat Lady.
Thats the only thing the cloud might have on this kite, cause this sexy lady can boost like a thunder cloud.

I had a FL last year. The Bar pressure was Huge! Could not get it Tuned out. I never complain about bar pressure. Even with the Kite designers help over some Emails. I also missed the Static pull that the Dyno and the Wainmans have.

I liked the Quality and orderd some line extensions but never installed them before I sold it.

I prefer to NOT to have to get board speed and build app. Wind to get the kite to pull.

I thought the 14 Trigger Pulled better to me.

I totally respect your experience about bar pressure. 8)
The v1 had a lot of travel to reach that "depowered" state.
I was using a 3 kite quiver last year,
a 17-12-7 and used the FL in very powered conditions.
To help with this, I added 4" of travel to the sheeting lines on the stock bar,
out to the point where I could just reach the depower strap with my long arms.
I held onto the bar when I sold that kite in case the v2 was similar.
It is not, and it does depower with less travel,
so its easier to find apparent wind with minimal bar pressure.
I'd love to try a 14m, just haven't been able to swing that yet.

(I added a 9 to the quiver this year, that was my big gap)
