I´m going to Mexico next week. Havn't decided yet where to go, but Progreso seems to be good both wind wise and in terms of accomodation, prices, etc... Or what woud you recon? Anyone who has been kitesurfing in Mexico? Would be great with some tips!

Check out La Ventana. It blows most of the time, it's warm, and safe. Lots of kiters and windsurfers. Food is good and cheap. When it's not blowing you can fish, SUP, kayak, scuba, etc..

The wind is very good in La Ventana but the ocean is without fun. Super choppy and no waves.
The night life is a joke but the locals are very nice and friendly.

I was thinking to stick to some place near Cancun anyway. La Ventana is so damn far away. must be some other decent spots on Yucatan?

Try Playa del carmen, on the beach of the SANDOS Playacar hotel (very nice hotel, checq the internet ) is the PDCkitesurf club,.. Very nice and professional guys,.. Kiting is also allowed with own equipment, but you can rent everything you need.. I think the best season is january - march.
I was there last march 2012 (with non kiting wife,..)and we will return this march for shure...
But I'm shure that other places must exist around,..
Good luck

Hola!, if you are coming to the Riviera Maya, those months are the best. You can kite in Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cancun, Xpuha, Isla Blanca. Also you can go to Yucatan, you will find more wind for sure, less turism and cheap accomodations in Progreso, San Felipe or Rio Lagartos. You can find the info about all those spots in the mexican caribbean here:

Any comment let me know, I usually kitesurf in Playa del carmen or Isla Blanca

Progreso is a very nice town, nice people, good food and cheap, cheap hotels, and good winds speacilly when you catch some of the "nortes" wind of north even also La Ventana is beautiful, much more kiting life, and when youre not kiting there you can fish, SUP, surf, snorlkel etc.
And also from Feb to June Bucerias a town near to Puerto Vallarta, nice place and kiting life also!
Good luck in your trip
