That's the attitude i was talking about when i mentioned Peer-Pressure !

Some introverted dude that can't get laid ; thinking he'll be COOL &
accepted into the ranks of Dumb-Asses.

When he Could be catching
thermals that send Ya skyward at a rate of over 2,000ft/min, and high
enough that you can't breath.

NOW-- imagine taking your PG or HG and doing ACRO all the way
back down to near ground level ; then doing it again, and again ... ...

Well Dude who talks about BALLS --- i bin Doing that for 35 Fricken years
now ; & it ain't about BALLS, it's about Adrenaline, and figuring out a way
yo get it again Tomorrow and as Many years as i can get away with it.

Hopefully you get that Same amount of duration from your stupid
water-kite & mountain- flight ---------------------------------------------------------NOT !!!

In my meager mind a water kite is more like a hang glider and foil more like a paraglider. I have flown through thermals and turbulence that would of collapsed a foil. Most flights I take with my kite would be too short a flight to warrant unpacking and packing a wing. That is what makes it so fun. Flying less than ten feet off the ground just does not seem that dangerous to me.
Billie, I only mentioned "why say reserve is useless" because to me it should work fine. no wing to get tangled up in. jmo :thumb:

is it worse than vids with peeps jumping over pier, or in shallow water, lenten jumps in very high winds?

wingsuits? speed riding? they got developped because the equipment wasn t fitting the activity ( with each % of deaths , each years)

and even worse....where would have been the kitesurf without peeps attached to a 2 lines kite without depower and without quick release? talk about suicidal tendancies.. :thumb:

may be, it s a small/future way of paragliding/kite activity which is not developped yet?

despite only a small % of peeps can achieve gliding with a kite at even 5m over 30...so even higher and longer...not many at all.

While i agree the guy doing the 10 min flight jumping off the top of a mountian flying down to the town isvery dangerous and in my mind as billy states the wrong equipment is used.

Bille has suffered massive injury with an error hanggliding and lost some of his legs so I understand his passion to inform others of the potential risks of extended flight.

Guys gliding off hills snow kiting is a new sport being pioneered by a number of adventurous individuals. Its here to stay and guys will continue to do it. At some stage a manufacturer will step up and make an officially "rated" wing for gliding.

perhaps ozone? they already make paragliders, speed wings, foil kites inflatables.

What about going the other way round and rigging a speed wing with kite length lines and a bar? outwardly they look very similar to an foil kite.

Remember at some stage some fool hard hardy individuals would have pioneered hanggliding paragliding, speed flying, sky diving, base jumping using the wrong equipment for the job.

Any way I don't glide off mountains. The closest I get is very small glides of sandunes landboarding. I limit myself to mild winds, mild slope, 6-8 foot off the deck as I sure as hell don't want to kill myself. But even the teny tiny glides i get are glorious indeed. I can see why people go back for more.

That is Exactly why i'm so passionate about swaying people away from gliding
with a water-kite ; and YES --- gliding is Very addicting !!

yeah i like that speed flying vid. looks super cool.

so your going to rig a paraglider on par and lines? you are a mad bugger. hehehe.

launch it like an arc. peel it off the deck at 45 deg.

please take a vid. i want to see.
