Thanks guys

All makes sense. will look into having a play. I've seen a guy at the beach with an OR kite so might see if he will let me have a play.

Cheers

Paul

My first bar was an Ocean Rodeo 2010 freeride. This is possibly the safest bar on the market, it has roughly ten feet of throw with stopper ball slide all the way out. The reason why is with this much throw you do not need to hit your safety at all to depower the kite. Simply let go of the bar an the kite will flag and rollover on the front landing lines , exactly like it would if you hit the QR.
All you have to do is reel in the kite with front lines/flagline grab bar and you are good to go. No need to reset QR.
I found it very comforting when first learning and would recommend it to any newbie or someone who likes a very safe easy system to use. I now use the OR fusion bar with my OR kite and miss the simplicity of the freeride bar, I am considering switching back.

I like to oversheet my kite and then use the throw to depower rather then play with the strap. Also in strong winds, you get some major lift.

My vote would go to the Zeeko UDS-bar. Infitite (almost) de-power throw AND no de-power strapp flopping about and at the desired (adjustable on the fly) distance above the bar.

Agree - I use my bar setup exactly the same way when on a TT, for getting major lift/hangtime in jumps.

And in waves, I also like to be able to deliberately oversheet my kites, so I can "put" the kite deeper in the window if I want.
And even more important - so I can control the kite when leaned far forward in a deep laydown bottom turn :thumb:

I almost never like to ride with the bar fully pulled towards me (only when going upwind maybe) - but I love to have LOTS of bar throw away from me

The last years most brands have shortened the throw - which most riders like I assume, but I hate it

:D Peter
