Maybe, but I bet the most important factor is how often you actually use your clamcleat. Some people adjust their trim all the time while riding, while others almost never touch it. I'd think that a waverider who rigs for the gusts is going to adjust his trim a lot less often than a flat-water kiter who likes to ride overpowered. Peter is a waverider and I'd guess that he usually tends to rig small?

You kite mostly in pretty light winds, right? Good luck trying to keep sand off anything when you're on a beach with fine sand in 30+ knots Given enough wind, the sand will find it's way onto everything...

But you are right that trying to keep the bar away from the sand will help, of course.

Also looking for Ozone specific advice as the depower line itself has bungees inside of it making it thicker. Once these bungees start snapping, the line starts slipping. Like many before said cleats will hold for years, I have never seen line slipping on other type of depower lines.

I use Clamcleat CL826-11AN/R which is the Ozone part (costs about £12 shipped in the UK). I don't bother with the Ozone partially bungeed trim line and instead use Marlow Ropes D12 Dyneema 5mm rope which is about £4/meter. Works fine no probs.

I go through cam cleats regularly on various bars and purchase a few for spare so I can swap out quickly.

Once the line starts to slip, it immediately needs to be replaced. I have been on the water with a slipping cleat and ended up tying a half hitch in the depower line to stop it from slipping.

If your clamcleat is slipping you should see a doctor and get rid of it.
