Carbon twintip with defect worths the discount?

I have the opportunity to buy a rsc supreme twintip at very good price but the board is in carbon and has a slight defect that was fixed by the shaper with another layer of carbon.

My question is if it is safe to buy a carbon board with a defect or it might break more easily under a tough reception.

If it was repaired by the shaper himself or any decent shaper then it should be fine.

How much of a discount? Warranty? What area of board was the repair made?

I repaired a board with a new entire layer of epoxy fiberglass on the bottom. It came out strong as heck, but quite heavy. If you can feel the weight of the board before buying, that's a good thing. It may be fine for your taste.

Another thing to consider is that if it's an entire layer of carbon, the board will be stiffer. That can be a good thing unless you are expecting a certain amount of flex. If only one side of the board has the new layer, that side will be stiffer.

We got the board for more than 30% discount and the defects are very minor!

Hard to say without a photo.

It depends on the type of defect and the type of repair.

If the repair is only one a very small portion of the board then go for it.

If they have added an extra layer or significant amount of carbon then this will affect the boards performance. In effect it will make it stiffer than the original design which could make it ride like a sack of shit.... or it could ride better. Most likely it will not be weaker. More likely to be stronger but perform worse.
