Naish Monarch Vs CrazyFly Raptor Pro

Postby Lives2fly » Mon Sep 16, 2013 3:47 pm

I am thinking about getting a new freestyle board and I have narrowed it down to 2. The Naish Monarch and the CrazyFly Raptor pro

Does anybody have any opinions to help me make the final choice?

I'm 183cm, 80kg, intermediate level. common conditions are in the 17-30 kt range

I'm not familiar with naish (and I'm CF distributor in Israel)

But the Raptor Pro is a killer one. very fast amazing upwind great pop
this board will push you over your limit.

size 132X41 is the perfect one for your weight.

this might not help much since I don;t know the CF...but I have the monarch. I like the board..it is the right mix of control and softness to me. It really lands soft even when you come down loaded....and loading up before a jump feel very controlled. The board also feels good in choppy conditions...

I have the 134..but am a bit heavier than you. I would consider the 132 for the wind and weight you are describing.

Thanks guys.

I do spend a lot of time riding in chop so the Monarch may be a good choice from that perspective.

Hopefully getting to try a Raptor today or tomorrow though I think its a bigger size - 137 or something. It will give me some idea at least.

:D ...yes, looks good. But with Monarch you`ll definitely leave an impression on the beach.Guaranteed.
It doesn't matter at all though...

L2F you may also consider 134 Monarch.I am lighter than you and very happy with it.
The board has decent amount of rocker /was very nicely surprised when I got it/ and feels very smooth for such capable freestyle board.
Sorry,I can`t compare the Monarch w/ Raptor Pro but I`ll give you my feedback about the boards I had.
The reason is when I decided to get Monarch I was struggling as there was very little info around /still/ so I bought it just by feeling.

I had NHP and North Team before the Monarch and it is by far smoothest from all /although NHP had much more flex/.
Landings are much softer.Like landing on white water -this is how I could describe it.
Loaded it has tons of grip but loose when ridden flat.My previous boards were with much bigger 5 cm fins compared to Monarch...
Lately I am thinking to buy boots for it and this size seems very suitable for me.

CrazyFly Raptor is a great board, can recommend it for sure. But to be honest haven't tried Monarch.
