ABoards knows that good board needs as good footpad and footstrap system. To provide maximum comfort and impact protection ABoards chooses only the best and most progressive materials. That’s why in SFLS ANATOMIC thermoformed footpad system has been integrated D3O® shock lock layer with intelligent molecules. We have chosen it as the most effective material for protecting your feet and joints under impact at landings or crashes.

D3O® intelligent molecules flow freely during normal riding resulting in a soft structure but lock together instantaneously under impact and immediately returning to their flexible state after. Furthermore the harder will be landing (impact), the more the molecules will lock together for the greater protection.

I thought with D3O the idea was it protected you by distributing shock, as in you could replace hard plastic outer plates with softer D3O in body armor for more comfort yet it would perform similar when shocked.

When you land hard on water the the force is already distributed by the board, why would then want footpads that go hard, surely you would want the opposite?

as have understood all brands as main material for pads use EVA and then adds some extra stuff for kind a stronger protection. Have noticed gel, air cells and in last years d3o. is there some real difference between them and some is actually better as others?

Not quite so. On contrary board is the one who makes rapid landing on water hard not softens it. But D3O by getting hard under impact kind of makes barrier for direct spreading of force. If there was only D3O molecules then yes assume that it wouldn't be pleasant but they are just one of the layers in the middle of pad, D3O receives impact from bottom layer, absorbs it (spreads in larger area) and therefore upper layer stays soft. At least softer as it would be without D3O.

Think that D3O is the best. But it as also the most expensive probably that's why most of manufactures stay with other materials.
