I use Atan boots and C-skins hot wired gloves. I hate thick 3 finger gloves but the C-skins work for me down to around 0 degrees C. Most important thing is to get something that fits well so general recommendations are perhaps hard to go buy.

As an ice diver I would never...ever...ever....dive wet gloves. A dry glove breach at 60 feet in the column can be bad....very bad...WAY worse than a kiter on the water...dry gloves are designed to be tough. Plus you wear fleece gloves underneath. I laugh when I see my buddies faces as they come off the water shaking their hands. To each their own I say. :cool2:

I feel for all of you guys! I went kiteboarding yesterday in 13f/-11c temperature and it felt balmy and cosy. I was testing my pearl izumi claw gloves and my gamble payed off handsomely. These are bike gloves and are super soft and water and wind proof. If you body drag much, they can fill up with water but its still way better then the tight and stiff neoprene gloves i've tried. The other thing i found to help a lot is a neo sport hoodie 5/3 mm that adds thickness to your suit core and head area and kills the wind. Layer up! Merino wool underneath, whatever it takes to keep the core warm to get the blood to flow in the whole body. For booties, I am happy with my NP 6mm but most i am sure most thick ones with wool socks will do the job.
Good luck finding the right gear and if you do, please share.
Thanks

Musto makes a half fingered fleece glove with a foldover mitten. I cover it with a goretex over mitten that completely blocks the wind. Easy to grab bar with no fatigue & keeping wind off my fingers keeps them warm wven with wet fleece

Got to admit Musto looks great too. Anyway anything that's super loose stops the wind and has zero resistance will do.

I have a pair of 5mm open palm mitts that are good but my hands will still be the thing that makes me come in sub 8 degrees.

I also have the dakine cold water neo mitts and they are better if you are keeping your hands dry but worse if you end up dunking them.

I'd like to test out dry gloves, something like http://www.ndiver.com/products/Thermal-Dry-Gloves.html but I haven't yet.

I've heard good things about Glacier Gloves, anyone have any first hand feedback?

I have a pair from early 90's, very thin maybe 2mm, simple, long cuffs and Velcro strap.
They keep on working after all these years, but here in Texas they don't get much action and it's not that cold.
