I was using my sector 54 with a 17m and when driving off the fins felt my back muscles working out. I was using a waist harness and will revert to my seat for boards with bigger fins, as a seat does (for me) transfer the loads better to the fins.
That said, I prefer a waist on a SB or mutant - plus, the earlier post did get me misty eyed recalling the hours on end spent as a kid on my sailboard sport planing without a harness, with a spray of water coming up through the dagger board cassette, as shown in the pic of Robby below:

So everyone is going off topic, never really cared about the looks that much altough I have to admit that a seat harness doesn't look that good. I don't think the looks of my kite gear ever got in the way with the fun that I was having which is a good thing.
I will keep the seat harness until I'm comfortable with my surfboard. I have one more question for you guys(just out of curiosity). Do many of the pro's use a sliding spreader bar while wave riding? I can't really make it out in the videos.

I actually see way less "pros" unhooking on the wave these days. Watch the KSP, their all hooked into their umbilical cords.
But yea, guys that are truly ripping are either fully unhooked or using sliders like Ian Alldredge.

The waist harness will only hold you back on your surfboard. Plus I agree with others it looks retarded.
Every wave I ride is unhooked. f*** sliders.
Sliders
are popular because most the bridled "surf" kites can't fly unhooked for 10 seconds without falling outta the air. For unhooking in waves a small c kite is what you want and not many pros are allowed to use a c kite especially in the waves.
