I'm trying to publish my first edited video shot with my Gopro, but the IQ is really bad when I post it to Vimeo. I mean it looks amazing on my computer, and almost embarrassed when I see it on the Vimeo.
Anyone know how to get better results?

Both YouTube and Vimeo AFAIK put up low bitrate videos as quickly as possible kind of like a place-holder, then gradually add the HD version... might just take a bit of time.
And of course, depends how you exported it...

It shouldn't be "embarrassing" quality but vimeo has definitely lowered their quality recently. It used to be much nicer than YouTube but now it's about the same or worse
you can easily see it if you upload a video that has text in it, the edges become quite aliased

I think it used to be 1080, and now hd for ordinary users is 720... For +users it is 1080... seems like they might have changed it to earn some more..

Also have been struggling to overcome this issue. I think it may have to do with the 30fps upload limit with both YouTube and Vimeo. Expensive editing software somehow compresses your 1089p/60fps down to 30fps w/o degrading quality while the free editing software removes every other frame to achieve this with a resulting drop in visual quality.
I've see some crystal clear footage on Vimeo and YouTube but have never come across any simple explanation on how to achieve that quality. Footage always looks great while on my black edition 3, but there is a 50% degradation of quality by the time it hits Vimeo. With Vimeo you Also need to pay for 720p and even more for 1080p

Yes I was watching in HD.
I'm going to try again tonight, see if I did something wrong.
Seems as if my 720p moved down and my 30 fps got cut too.
Maybe embarrassing was a bit strong, but it plays much worse than I was expecting; compared to what I see on my computer, and a bunch of higher quality videos on Vimeo.

So I have to retract my statement about massive IQ loss on Vimeo.
I just realized that my work computer runs on a terminal session (remote network), where I first viewed my video. Because everything runs on a third party server before it gets to me, everything is a little slower and lower quality, I guess it was more pronounced with my video.
But the Vimeo IQ quality is worse than if I run it on my person computer, everything is less sharp and slightly blurred in cases.
I did reload my the video, and I found that Vimeo immediately cut 5% of the size my file and the video was coded at 30 fps at 720p. Not sure if this is the problem, but could be.

Here's the final cut if anyone is interested. Was actually really fun to shoot and edit after. I started at zero, but read the GoPro instruction manual on the editing, then it was a piece of cake.
You gotta watch in HD tho or else it look pretty bad.
