You wouldn't drill all the way through because this would weaken the bar too much.

It's a very good idea which could be adapted to be used without a CL.
I got that part too from looking at it. I guess I should have been way more specific with my interest:

1) Are the "white spacers" that give some clearance height for the CL when slides to a "black stopper" just PVC pipe cut down to a thin cross section?
2) That are the "black stoppers" made from or re-purposed from?
3) Was anything done to the nylon retaining strap where the mounting screw/bolt penetrates through it to reinforce that hole in the fabric? Like, was a small grommet installed? I agree that when the CL is pulling all the over at a "stopper" that the "retaining strap" would see some decent load and could wear over time I would think.

Hey guys, here some more details...

The spreader bar is size S from a Ion Nova 2014.
The wholes, screws and the black spacers are all original part which you will find if you remove all the stuff around. Then it looks like this:

If you need a longer way to slide, you have to use a XL spreader for example.

If you have further questions, don't hesitate to ask...

Then simply move the position of the retaining buttons outwards. Rocket science. ;-)
Thanks for stating the obvious, this thread - OP is about loosing the CL btw.

By great idea, I was referring to the Teflon tape - not hooking a CL to a spreader bar, I'm sure most of us have been there done that :o

I was interested because I could TIG weld a 5-6mm 25-30 diameter SS ring around the bar which would then slide nicely on the Teflon tape and to which I could directly connect my QR thus getting rid of more hardware.

Wonder what rope wear will be like with the "stainless steel clasp"? But certainly nice to have below the bar manual swivel on the Talon Sentinel.

That's what I was thinking John, but i suppose ropes are easily replaced.
