Hpr wrote:Ok I haven't gone through all 63 pages so don't skin me if this has been discussed before but has anyone tried connecting their chickenloop directly around the spreaderbar (obviously a spreaderbar without hook)? If the bar is not too tight I don't see a problem with the chickenloop releasing when fired. Main advantages would be more throw and closer pull angle to the body without the extra distance of the hook. Question is will the chickenloop slide on the bar? And if it does, will it slide reliably from side to side or get stuck randomly?
Bushflyr wrote:Most bars have velcro of some sort around them to attach to the pad so that would get in the way of the CL. Also, you need the bar as tight as possible since that's what keeps the whole harness from riding up around your neck. Good thought, but not practical.
I read all pages and this is a new option which was also on my mind! I prepared my spreader bar and test it in the first 2 weeks of april...

It does not seem to slide very well when powered up, just to sticky for me to like the feel. Tried to shorten the travel distance also but still not the right feel for me. Good luck, hope it works better for you.

Nem0, can you explain the construction of the "stoppers" and "retaining strap"? Teflon tape was a good idea!

The stoppers will be to limit the CL range of movement and the retaining strap will be to prevent the CL jumping over the stoppers.

I understand how it works and the intentions of the pieces. I want to know how he put it together.

There will be little load on the stoppers or strap so you could tap 2 x 6mm threads into the rear of the bar and bolt on a couple of 6mm x 25mm nylon washers with a polyester strap secured with 25mm stainless washers, and use some loctite to stop the bolts backing out. You wouldn't drill all the way through because this would weaken the bar too much.

It's a very good idea which could be adapted to be used without a CL.

Agreed it's a great idea but the travel for the slider looks a bit short to me.

Then simply move the position of the retaining buttons outwards. Rocket science. ;-)
