Girls in King of the Air?

Postby Toby » Tue Nov 18, 2014 1:28 am

I wonder what you guys think about having girls in the KOTA, like it used to be?

Have maybe 4 or 5 girls in one heat for 20 min, maybe in the beginning of the comp so they have less wind and less risk.

2 pre qualified like Gisela and Karolina, 1 wild card and 2 via video votings.

I think it would be good to include them.

I absolutely agree. Definitely include them. It would be good for the sport, would showcase some of our current stars, would encourage other females to try the sport, and would provide an incentive for existing women riders to further develop their skills.

(But, Toby, let's use the term "women" and give them full stage, not 20 min in light wind!! )

na, they are young and go as girls ;-)

As organizers and women wish...can be stronger wind. Was just thinking to limit their risk.
Not my call !

Yes, would be Queen of the Air...it is a great title! :thumb:

If there's enough interest for a girls heat, I think they should. It's not really fair to make the compete in the men's division, but I don't know that there are enough competitors for a full women's division. Look at the freestyle competitions, there are really only 3 or 4 girls total that are really competing, and the top 2 are lightyears ahead of the rest.

Well... If they jump as high and loop as hard as the boys do then yes.
Otherwise, it's not interesting, at least not for me.
Ans as we know, they don't jump as high or loop as hard or do the tricks at the same level the boys do.

There's no reason why girls can't jump/loop as high/hard as guys so I see no reason to have a specific girls division. With freestyle it's a bit different as physique does help, for bigair and looping (any hooked stuff) you just need technique and be fit.

I would love to see some girls in the comp but they would have to ride as hard as the guys.
