It would be great to have a weather station right at the kitesurf spot. If you want to share your data with Windfinder you are welcome to do so at: http://www.windfinder.com/weather-station/add.htm

Sharing is caring.

Most of the pay-for-services take advantage of open-source weather networks like weather bug. Its a no-brainer, even the cable weather channels do it. Consider joining the weather bug network and get awarded with deep discounts on compatible partner stations.

WeatherBug is a commerical company as you can see on their About-Page and at Wikipedia. Windfinder does not get any data from WeatherBug. Besides www.windfinder.com is free of charge. Also, we offer free advertising in return for sharing data with us.

No problem. I can gladly share my readings. Which should I buy? The Davis Vantage Vue or the Davis Vantage Pro 2? Thanks

Hello,
the Vantage Pro and the Vantage Vue are very similar. the Vantage sensor suite is larger and the wind sensor can be detached from the other sensors. The Vantage Vue is less expensive. You will find the standard packages at: http://www.windfinder.com/weather-station/

However you can also buy the modules (Vantage Pro sensor suite) that you like individually. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us at info@windfinder.com

Regards,
Oliver

As a full weather station I think the Davis Vantage Pro2 is a very good choice in it's price class. I know at least about twenty local weather stations operating with the Pro2 hardware for many years.

Vantage Vue is a different story. A weather station professional I trust personally very much and I wouldn't even consider anything based on it. Why? The cheaper Vue has all its sensors in one package. You can get some spare parts for it but I think it's a bit expensive toy. Still if you want to consider the cheaper Vantage Vue there's three comparison pdf's available at http://www.davisnet.com/weather/how-to- ... sp#compare

If you need just wind speed and direction I'd suggest you to consider just buying the Davis Vantage Pro2 anemometer with the Windguru Station package. What I like about their service and one of the main reasons why we decided to purchase it for our local spot with our own hard earned money is that the windspeed is measured every 60 seconds and the Windguru Station website (http://www.windguruspot.cz/) shows also the maximum and minimum values recorded.

Another good reason is money. The Windguru Station package with the Vantage Pro 2 anemometer costs just 400 euros + VAT including shipping (http://stations.windguru.cz/intro.php). Full Vantage Pro2 would have cost us over 1000 euros and required much more work with the installation and setup. Pretty hefty price tag for a rainfall graph that's practically of no use at least for us at our local spot.

To get the best weather station, you just simply go through "thehumannest", that can give you the best info about this device and I immensely benefited using this. I am sure it will never let you down.
