To get back to the original topic,
After experimenting with different setups (FPV, line mount, board mount, etc), my favorite one is just attaching the camera to a long pole and sticking it in to a waste-deep water..
You can get great perspectives just jumping over it or doing tricks 3 feet away..

You watch out there, kiting in the "waste ... water!" :nono:

I usually anchor mine in water a little deeper than my waist like this:

Here is the very best GoPro mount.

The greatest thing about this is I was able to incorporate duct tape into the design.

You clip it to the lines, wrap the duct tape around the lines, then attach the string to a flying line with a prussik knot. I waxed the string with sex wax to keep it in place. It keeps the camera from sliding down the lines if the duct tape fails.

I bought the $40 line mount, but was dissatisfied because most of the video/image you get is in portrait format. There is a lot of sky and water and it wastes a lot of screen real estate when you view it.

None of these line mounts is great for the safety system, but I tend not to use them when it's really strong and gusty.

And how about for mounting on a foil kite? On the kite itself.

I tried a method with magnets, but it fell off, into the drink... It washed up onshore and I found it, though.

Cool a lot of great info here.
The pole idea is what I'm looking for I thought maybe an old tripod.
Pole seems a lot better.

For 3rd person POV the Wizmount system provide a great, stable view and has endless adjustment POVs.

Mine mounts sideways so it's in normal landscape mode.

Can the go pro line mount work with a fith line North Rebel set up?
Looks like it's designed for 4 lines only.

deniska...great idea for attaching a Gopro to a float. Avoids putting a crease in my wife's head if I miscalculate. Question...why the control bar below the water? Why not have a single pole with a float and anchor?

I think you want to ask Johhnn..
I just use a long stick in shallow water..
As to DIY line mount - you can easily make wire frames for both portrait and landscape modes..
One of the reasons I made my own - I was not sure that $44 camrig one would work with SJ4000 case..
