How would you compare the Envy to the Switchbalde?.
12m 2015 envy vs. 12m 2017(or 2018?) switchblade:
The SB is a great kite, strong build, very stable easy to handle. Nothing wrong with it, really.
But the envy is more "playful", or faster if you like. For example you can loop both kites, but you somehow feel, that the envy was designed for it, as opposed to the SB. I really like that kite (envy), but I wouldn't recommend it to beginners, as opposed to the SB.
Now about the build quality: I don't know what the previous owner did to that kite, but after ~3 years of use, mine has more repairs than original stitches. Especially the trailing edge is falling apart. I fixed that all with repair tape, now it flaps like crazy, I can even feel that in my hands. But with all that I prefer my old envy to my friends new SB. But that's personal preference.
If the SB is a Rolls Royce, the envy is a Porsche.
The bar: I have the CPR and the mission control bars. I can't say too much about the CPR, since I mainly use the other, but my friends didn't fancy the below the bar depower. The mission control bar is simple, but has everything you need, can even set the effective width. I don't think you need a more sophisticated bar. (But actually interchangeable with the SB bar, which is definitely a better build).
Now about the 2015 9m envy:
Make sure you inflate it to 10-12 psi! Yes, that hard, already in the red zone for some gauges!
It is a great kite with this pressure. My jumps (learning only) suddenly improved when I switched to the envy from an older model, other brand. But not enough pressure and the kite may just suddenly collapse if you steer it to hard.
