Which 12m kite ?

Postby Gautiou » Fri Jan 15, 2016 11:54 am

Hi,

I'm hesitating between Airush Lithium, Airush Varial X and Switchkite Nitro 5 in 12m.
I would like to know which kite turns faster in 12m.

I like boosting big airs and surfing waves.

Thank's a lot for your answers.

I prefer the Varial X 2015 for her best price.

The Lithium would be better for Waves, would drift better than the Varial. Lithium is pull in and go.

The Varial X would be better for big Air. Varial needs to be worked to get the best from it. You need to be lighter on your feet and have good kite skills to get the best from it. When you get in tune to it, it is an awesome kite. It rewards you, but you have to work for it. Not as good in the waves as a Lithium.

Two different tools for two different styles.

I have no idea about the Switch kites.

The new Union drifts well, better than the Varial X. No idea what it is like in Waves. But similar to the Varial, it needs you to work to get the best from it.

Thank you for your answer. I think the Lithium is better than the Varial X in 12m.

I like boosting big air (Varial X) and surfing (Lithium). It's difficult for me to choose the best kite.

Union looks great but too expensive.

Nitro V5 12 Fast, low barpressure, stable, pulls high...floats very long, short spiderbridle, top quality and finish...

Do you realise that a kite for boosting big is completely different to one for riding waves?

What is your preference waves or boosting?

I know that we couldn't have a wave and freestyle kite. Most of the time I prefer boosting big air because we don't have great waves in my spots.

Naish PARK HD if you can get a good deal on one. I had nitro before i would recommend you the Park Instead, lighter bar pressure, softer pull etc... but great boosting.

Also naish bar is much better than the nitro one who is too hard with a very deficient safety system. I just switch from Switch to Naish. before with the nitro always got scared during release, with the naish no problem the line is flagging very easily.

I assume as well the Airush is a great kite i seen it before and quality is great.

Yes the problem is not many kites can work in waves and boost.... The Nitro boosts a lot but doesn't have good drift.

So I'd say Switch Element 4 (in 11 or 13m) it's an "all round" kite which has fantastic drift in waves and can boost reasonably well :thumb:
