Alex Caizergues has used the Hexo Plus, there are some videos out there. I think Airdog has similar functionality to follow phone's gps.
DJI requires phone to be connected to the remote controller in order to follow GPS position. DJI has a feature to track on screen without GPS but in my opninion it's not reliable enough to set it and leave it. It loose track easily from test I have seen. For kitesurfing might be easier to keep track given kiteboarder stand out on top of water.
True, Hexo uses smartphone, but not AirDog. Controlling your drone trough smartphone in water with wet fingers would be quite impossible.
AirDog uses waterproof tracker device that you can wear on your wrist and AirDog has a dedicated flight mode for windsurfing and they're working on Kitesurf mode as well. You can read more about it here:

I put my helmet upwind on dead tree, does the trick for now but those soloshot would be great.

you guys are crazy patient. They have had your money for 2 years. That is crazy and seems to be unethical. They should have offered some kind of refund or discount.

we received a pretty good discount...50% for early birds! So it is ok to wait...since they also added more features and made it better. At the end we don't loose money, and get a fantastic product. Well worth it if you ask me! I use SS2, and SS3 will improve my filming and setup hassle so much, that it is a dream come true
Mid of Juni we shall know more...will post a review once used for the first time.

I am frustrated too.
Going back to Brazil soon, need it badly.
They are already producing...but guess they are still fine tuning the software.
At least when it arrives we have a working product and don't have to wait for software updates
