Has anyone ever used the , (PASA) to be insured for kite boarding ?
Are they a reputable company ; will they insure individuals ?

Bille, are you looking at becoming certified as an instructor through a PASA ICP class? PASA will certify you either as a rider (Level 1,2,3) or as an instructor (must take 5-day ICP class). PASA's rider membership used to include liability insurance coverage as part of the package covered by your annual fee, but it no longer does. You can still get insurance coverage as a PASA certified instructor (by taking an ICP, getting CPR certification, etc.).

Insurance coverage is issued by First Flight Insurance, which also handles other "extreme sports" insurance (hang-gliding, paragliding, ultralights, etc.). I'm not sure if First Flight offers liability insurance policies to recreational (non-instructor) riders, but you'd get better information contacting them directly. For PASA ICP information, contact Chris at KiteProvo.com (ICP classes are usually held in the USA - often on Hatteras Island).

I've had insurance coverage through PASA/First Flight both as a recreational rider (before PASA discontinued it) and as an instructor. Luckily, I've never had to file a claim, so I don't have that first hand experience.

So becoming an instructor ; is the only current way to get liability insurance ; that
is what i may need to kite on Lake Mead

Bille, you're correct ... PASA certification for non-instructors no longer includes liability insurance. But, you might be able to get it by contacting First Flight Insurance Co. directly....I'm not sure about that. Good luck!

Billie are the new lake mead requirements out, do you have a link? WHat are the requirments?
