Nah. No non kiter will be interested in strapless airstyle. Sure its technically very impressive for the guys actually doing it or interested in it.
Lets face it the kota is where where kiting shines. Most other disciplines copy other sports poorly.

Wave kiting - actual surfing is more impressive to watch.
Wakestyle - actual wakeboarding way impressive.
Airstyle, most other freestyle sports put it to shame. skateboard, moto, ect....
Foilboard racing....... well all sailing racing is batshit boring.

The general public want to see height! The higher the better.
We can punt jumps higher and longer than anything else.

Lets face it its the core of kiteboarding.

Disagree on the foil board racing, think there's good potential there

Those guys can ride in no wind and at a speed where the tactical, incomprehensible, bit of sailing is less important than the ability to go fast in a straight line, which is something everybody is able to relate to.

You are probably right. It is less batshit boring that other forms of course racing/sailing to watch. But still i maintain its more of a participants sport than a spectators........ That said look how many people watch cricket and golf. I would literally prefer to watch weeds grow in my grass that watch that.

Wrong about foiling being boring to watch.

Once the Americas Cup got foiling it's popularity boomed! once again it was the added danger that got the crowds interested. It's a subconscious thing, I am sure that people don't go to watch carnage but if it happens it makes the day more exciting.

KOTA is a show. it's close-up and almost tangible. The crowds can almost touch the kites and riders and then they watch them go out and jump so high it doesn't make sense to their layman minds.

The only way to make KOTA more popular the layman is to up the risk even more. Higher jumps, loops and more extreme variations.

Next year we will see the Megaloop board off for sure.

Yeah. close up makes a huge difference to the layman. Also height as well. Lets face it they mainly care about height. The higher you are the more the crowds enjoy it.
