Marc Jacobs at North Kite now ?

Postby flysurfing » Tue Feb 09, 2016 7:01 pm

Hello,

I was watching the semi final of Kota and was surprised to see Marc Jacobs riding a North Vegas.

Did he moved to North Kites ?

No he didn't leave Switch. His kite broke and it was too much wind to use his bigger one from what I heard. Someone was nice enough to help him out :D

Hello
Thank you for your concern.
Marc did not go to North. As Marc was waiting for his heat to start his 8m Legacy was sitting too close to the shore break. A tidal serge came up took his kite and swept it over some sharp rocks and shells, causing damage.
He then relocated and by the time he realized the damage was there it was to late to fix as his heat was up next. He did not want to take any risks flying in these harsh conditions with any damage to his gear.

He did mention:
If he was on his Legacy he most likely would have advanced. He was super bummed out. He only travelled with one 8m to the Event and had to fly a kite that did not work for his needs at the very last minute.
You learn from mistakes and get wiser and stronger for the next battle.
Great Effort for his first King of the Air.

good that he switched (haha), imagine he would have taken the defective kite and it would break at a loop. I once did a kiteloop with a broken strut...it stopped at the bottom of the loop...no fun...and I was maybe half the height the guys got at KOTA.

Better out then injured.

But, Marc has potential to win as well. Next time!

Doesn't matter which kite you fly, at an event like that you can't just switch over to another kite and perform at the same level.

Was the damaged kite covered by the lifetime guarantee? Had to say it, just kidding of course. My nitro's seem to be indestructible on the snow and water. Hope I did not just jinx myself.

He could have been supported by the local Switch dealer and just grabbed another kite from him...... Oh that's right. No local support on the beach...... Bummer. How ironic.

Sorry. I couldn't resist.

That's a bit of bad luck mixed with bad management. I would have thought all riders would have taken multiple spares as any one stack could have shredded a kite in those conditions.
