Lotta people laugh their asses off about the "already evolved" when someone comes along with what looks like a goofy idea and the next thing you know it's evolved beyond that and they are billionaires. And then you're probably reaching for meat in the "shoulda would coulda" category cause you laughed your ass off.
No worries, if it makes you laugh it doesn't matter cause nothing else matters!

Yeah... why not give it a shot. I started skiing back in 71, and was so bored by it in 84 I switched to snowboard and swore I would never be seen on skis again. Alas, some smart ass came along with carving skis, I was talked into trying them in 2000 and still love them. Completely different animal.

So. If we would invest as much time in water skis as we invested in boards to date, that might just be the absolute killer. Who knows.

Why not wake skis? Or for those of us crafty enough a set like them but flatter underfoot and 4 Fins not 2. I also think a sliding hook harness would make a huge difference.

Done it way back and had a really hard time keeping a constant edge/staying upwind. The leg (calf and thigh) work was really tiring
Done it on a mono water ski too and that was a blast. was using a bigger kite than I would normally and was getting some insane speeds. No hope of staying up wind though, but still great fun and a good experience. Even had some good high speed gibes.
Try it out, it will be another experience on your board, and we all know that there is no substitute for experience : )

I have seen pictures a week back on Facebook from some kiteschool in St Martin experimenting with waterskis. Looked pretty cool.

I would be scared the ski cross though, might be ok in light wind with no chop...

I tried it once for the novelty factor in the surf. It was harder than I expected, mainly due to the available surface area. I am sure it would have been better on jump skis. When I fell off, it was a mission getting it all together again.

As someone else said, it is no doubt easier to learn on a TT - it's all about the kite when you are learning. Get the skis out later.
