Homemade kiteboarding pocket multi-tool: Kitecleat

Postby kitesurfvoilier » Sat Apr 23, 2016 3:04 pm

Hi kiteforum Riders,
I'm trying to develop a kiteboarding and sailing concept that could interest any kite user:
Get rid of untwisting your lines by turning your kite in "plug & play" mode,
upgrade your safety in the same move if you wish,
and give me a hand to develop another way of kite trip.
From 20€. All is here: http://kitesurfvoilier.fr/en
Sorry for my bad English, the advertising character of this message (sorry but difficult when you start all alone a little activity). Comments and user feedback are welcome, best winds to all :)

Cool but you don't need a tool to do this. Just stand between your outside lines (front lines being between your legs) as you roll your bar up, it keeps them separated no problem next time you lay them out.

Hi, thanks for your feedback on your own experience, I don't really see how you attach the ends on your lines being sure there is absolutely no twist... Anyway, I'm not saying there are no other ways as (almost) everybody do without it ! I first design it for beginners and then get feedbacks from good kiters telling me that time saving it's great for afterwork or cold sessions and here in South of France, on some crowded spots, it's good to have kiters that only need the place to pump their kite... Of course you can still untwist manually and legally your lines ! ;)

I think it looks like a slick tool. I know when I wind up my lines, the loose ends always get twangled pretty badly, so when I unwind them and walk them back to the kite from the bar, it takes a little bit (seems like forever when the wind is good--probably a minute or two) to get them untangled. I often kite after work, and at certain times of the year that leaves very little daylight/wind to play with. Every minute counts at that point, so a gizmo like this would be worth a few bucks.

Suggestion: Make a sheath for it so it can be attached to your harness through a harness strap so you've got it with you when you land your kite. Tucking a $20 gadget into your "belt" won't cut it.

Don

Hi Don,
Thanks for your feeling about it and the advice of the sheath. I think you are right, it's better to have it with you when navigate specially for cutting tool function versions and catching your lines just after landing the kite. This is the way I design it, a double elastic is provide with each Kitecleat for several stowage on harness. Please visit http://kitesurfvoilier.fr/en/usage/ for all details.
Best winds,
Sébastien - KSV

here is one more slick tool that will do the job (in conjunction with your fingers or legs/arms :-) )
Let me know when your multi-tool becomes price-comparable with that...

Excuse my bad joke but not so easy to have always same comments regarding the line management function only... It's a bit more in my mind... I invite you to see the review made by the independent customer and tester: We Test Kites. Not so bad ! :)
