Havent seen any plans for bridge, but how high will it be over water? Will boats be able to fit under it? Can a kiter keep his kite low and sneak under it.If its windy enough can you jump over it? Maybe build some features into it,sliders etc.

Apparently Dimitri is going to be opening this bridge by jumping over it. True.

Somewhere there are artistic renditions showing how the bridge will look from different distances. They did this when evaluating all the different proposals. I don't know where it is, but a creative web search may pull up this presentation.

Looks like the bridge is happening.

So I'm hoping to sneak out on one last trip to the sound this fall before this thing gets built. I'll really miss kiting there....lots of great memories learning to kite with some great people.
It's been a fun ride Rodanthe!
Thanks!

Can we get an update of the bridge construction from one of the locals?
Just wondering how quickly this new bridge is being built?
When I was there in May, there were bulldozers working in behind the Liberty already and a friends wife saw survey stakes out in the Sound just north of Mirlo when she was kayaking.
Thanks
Blake

I was in Pappy ln, Rodanthe the first week of June. Construction has begun. The grading of landing for bridge is between Pappy ln and the small marina to the south. The sound was untouched as yet. The bridge will effectively wipe out reasonable use of all sound use from there northward.
It is so sad. My last web search seemed to show that legal stoppage will not prevail.

Jumping over will get kiting banned, just as it got banned north of Rodanthe.
Walking under is going to suck because it's about place where you can barely touch bottom.
Real and anyone on jetskis will still be ok as they bring students further out.

What I read is the bridge will be built using preassembled parts and seeing Bonner bridge progress would persuade anyone that the project will move very fast done same way.
The story I heard was the Bonner bridge needs to be finished first so same machinery/crew to be used for construction.
But I'd appreciate pics/updates too
