water starting is the easy bit, it's trying to ride upwind on a high cambered kite.

or did yall miss some tweaks like wac, diabloline, mixer adjustments? combine all three grow some arm muscles and prepare to hold on :-)

Though I must say 3knots requires a bit of work to get on plane. Having to swim against the kite to keep it flying is also a challenge. If your board ends up downwind of you that's well interesting :-)

I think Speed3 can be compared. It loses about one kitesize in pull/upwind compared to modern race foils, but is more stable and usable. Compared to LEI's Speed3 pulls more. Upwind 15m Speed at least equals 17m inflatable, but of course loses in turning speed and handling.
foilholio wrote:yes you can make a 10m pull like a 15m, it is actually somewhere between pulling like a 15m and a 20m.
This is bs. When decent kite is fully powered, its pull is very much maximized. Kite is then close to backstall (at highest tolerable AoA) and it's camber is increased. To get 50% or more pull would need complete rebuild of the kite, if even then possible. Didn't you foilholio get what I earlier explained: high cambered kites are very different in shape? By "tweaking" the bridle it is not possible to change depowerable kite to high camber kite - distorsions would become much too big, causing a huge drag and loss of performance.

So far on this thread kitexpert there is no bs coming from you :thumb: ......fool-he-ho on the other hand likes to stretch the truth

All you say about sp3 is 100% correct i had the 21...for sp2 i had 19 &15...all great kites enjoyed them a lot for light wind
But my style changed to only strap surfboards in ocean so what suits me more are fast 17 tubes kites...my fun starts at non ridiculous 8 knots ...backroll kiteloops at 9 knots
Keep it up kitexpert
Yep, I have gone much the same road. I still have set of FS kites, but I use nowadays mainly smaller kites and inflatables too. I like a lot your approach to gear: "what works for the day".

I guess we should continue to shoot down ridiculous claims 8) :thumb:

Already been done. Dimitri / Epic kites made that claim many years ago.

Finally a non ridiculous claim.....thank you very much for that...i have gained some respect for you

To me 6 knot is the magic number, but I agree 7 - 8kts is to make it worthwhile to go for it
