Love the idea of a BTB manual swivel.

Still no stopper ball? :( I need em for my Full Deadmans dude!

Lol thats not a bridle, thats a halfway connector so you can get it on the corner without putting the flying lines right at the corner

Same shi(t)(t)y lines!!! That must be a cash cow for them since the Torch holds up to extremes well. Well, thats def a green light to buy my own lines :D

DC-401 /301 here I come!
Idk man... my buddy sawed a perfectly straight line through his twin tip about 6 inches deep from the nose in and sliced a few cabrinha lines with those naish lines. I haven't owned a naish kite since 2011 but i was thoroughly impressed. Stretching wise, i wouldn't know.

I have gone thru several Shift system and Fusion system linesets, they are garbage. The LINES (not the bars, the straps, the newer CL/QR is actually kinda nice), the LINES are crap. I replaced one of my Shift system's lines with Slingshot lines - created the center out of the SS center lines (heavy duty Jerry Brown 800#) and the steering out of SS steering. Never broken that lineset. The 5th is not fully loaded, only light-moderate tension so it does not need replacement, its good. Design wise, running all of the power of the flying lines thru that one lower Y section and using standard dyneema for that lower Y section is ridiculous. If it helps the shape of the kite fine, but use a heavier line for that lower section. 240 kg is too weak.

I love the Torch and to have handled my weight throwing loops in Cape Town on a day it was blowing 50+ knots, I am very impressed by the kite. But Damien needs to review his choice of line material.

ANyways, the kite rocks and that is the important thing for this thread. THere is another thread here I have been talking lines so we can leave it there (just dont invest in Naish bar/liens is my advice). I am very eagerly looking forward to Wednesday so I can see the 2017s. I just hope they do a demo day on Maui, despite great conditions for it, the local shop does not like the Torch as only a few of us here ride it. Gonna have to scrape together some money to buy some 17s if they are all that altho I need to demo it and I want some indie reviews first.

agree, once you load up naish lines a couple of times they stretch a couple inches, just like cabrinha lines, garbage

slingshot or core lines..i stopped checking those bars a while ago, don't stretch a bit

and the curtain goes up! the new Naish Torch with ESP

http://www.naishkites.com/product/torch/

Quad-tex, dunno, for the Torch maybe it actually will help, especially a heavyweight rider like me.
I generally dont like seeing them back away from reinforcements
their video explaining ESP makes it sound attractive. I will try it but if I bought a kite I would still prob attach the old way. I suspect existing Torch users will feel the same. But it could bring in more mainstream riders. If it truly does not affect it fully powered, the extra help on depower could help in gusty/extreme high wind conditions (eg, Cape Town)
Overall the new kite is attractive to me altho the trade of patches for quad tex is a ? atm

something interesting here, the new Torque control bar looks like it has a low V split instead of the single line Y splitting higher up. Canopy shape affected?
lines are still antiquated garbage
the low swivel looks good, curious to see if it works on a 5 line system
the color scheme on the bar is terrible, does not match the kites
they changed the strap system a little from the prior SHift style straps they were using on the Fusion. Odd, that part of the system worked well imo.
the bar itself is still the Fusion bar

Looks like the 5th line splits towards the leading edge and with the lower v, i wonder if it will fly more like the chaos and vegas? I'm digging it

The Chaos and the Vegas are really not the same kite. De Chaos steers way more direct that the Vegas. The 2015/2016 Torch looks more like the 2016 Chaos.

The Grey and Green torch looks very sharp - well done.

Obviously they didn't test the Mutiny above bar swivel - could have had a great swivel like mine coming up 4 years old and still works like new with no line twists ! Unlike their cheap crap one.

Why even bother untwisting by hand below the bar... what a waist of time - and you still have the potential to jam the safety up...

Common Naish - get your act together... and the soft lines :)

Idk Cabrinha, Slingshot, and North have below the bar swivels and they work great. couple twist after every few tricks. nice and easy and I've never had any issues. above bar swivels fees up or f they twist too much they never come undone. Also, the torch doesn't need a swivel since its a 5 line.

Fair enough fifth line....
You don't mind untwisting lines because you've gotten used to the Herd mentality or you'd say the same as me - 4 years of not untwisting lines ! Ripping down loops down the line, megaloops and all the rest of the tricks - dead straight from excellent design.

Progress takes us forwards
Charging top dollar for 2nd rate mods pft Losers call themselves team RnD.. :nono:

The Herd eventually stopped flying 2 line kites Moooooo moo moo moo :)
