Hi,
so in the search of the light wind weapon for surfboard and foiling I have been thinking outside the box
hence the new Cloud model. My current 12m2 is in very light winds slow in turning speed and unstable at the sky due to the weight of the kite (as they all are) and I was wondering if the 13.5m2 Cloud would fit the bill?
The Clouds are expensive kites, and unfortunately I have no chance to fly one before buying and therefore I am looking for good kiters' opinions, please! I have read tons of stuff about them, but haven't found good info specifically on the 13.5m2. The main criteria are light bar pressure and low end pull with decent depower,
but the most important factor for me is the quick turning, how would you rate this compared to other kites, please?
Thank you very much!
Good winds and waves to you!

In my opinion, a 13.5 Cloud will turn faster than 12m strutted kite.

Thanks. I'm 80kg or so, and one comment I could find abt the kite was that especially when foiling in light winds, you obviously need some power (ie. kite size) to get pulled our of the water but when up and riding it has easily too much power ie. the pull it generates with speed becomes too much. Of course this depends on the wind speeds, but nevertheless, it is something that got me thinking about the suitability of the 13.5m2 for foiling =/ So the depower becomes quite an important factor then I believe?
Can you say anything about the turning speed in light winds, as that's when the strutted kite are particularly slow?
Thanks!

I have a 13.5m Cloud.5 kite. I have used it perhaps a for 15 to 20 sessions. Since I am almost only foiling it honestly doesn't get nearly as much use as my 8.5m, since I can comfortably foil with that kite in any wind 11mph and up average. The development of the 13.5m clearly had an eye on foiling....for a rider with certain interests and not for every rider. In the same wind, the 13.5 C.5 will turn noticeably faster than your 12m kite, and it will stay aloft in lower winds. So, that would suit you. I don't find the bar pressure to be light or heavy. I happen to prefer heavier bar pressure when foiling as the total pull needed while foiling is not so great, and having more pull from the bar means I can react and depower more instantly. I have lent the kite to one friend who turned around and bought one, and to another friend who did not, and I could not have predicted their reactions. If you end up using it a lot, the kite is a bargain. If you use it rarely, even an inexpensive kite isn't really so inexpensive. If you really are not sure, probably a good idea to try harder to borrow one for a few sessions and be certain rather than ending up regretting a purchase. I am very happy will mine for foiling and surf but these things can be pretty personal and individual. (BTW,Where do you usually ride?) Or put it off a bit until you can find a used one on the website (who knows when that will occur?)
