You also have those guys with surfboard and leash where surfboard goes through line then leash powers up the bar...

A few times after a hard wipeout I have bounced back up on water and a body part ended up above the bar between line but usually it gets sorted out quick.

Scariest thing was when I tumbled across my line doing 2 full rotation, when kite powered up it lifted me out of water unwinding me like a yoyo, luckily I was wearing a 6mm + 2mm hoodie and no body part got stuck in line... Didn't get pulled that high only 6 feet.

Question; did the guy activate the QR? If not would it have made a difference?

It does not look like he did. Would it have made a difference? Doubtfully. Not with a GoPro mount binding together his two center lines. Because of the way the GoPro attaches to both center lines, a single centerline flag-out system will not function properly. Very dangerous, IMHO.

You''re right it doesn't look like he's activated it, he should have anyway, I think the force of the single line flagging out would rip apart the go pro mount.

Very good point about the dangers of a such mount, I now will never use one despite how cool it looks...

And that's also why I only ride strapless with my fragile ankles.

Since he has all his weight locked onto the bar has he not effectively bypassed both safeties?? Even if he tries to flag out, the bar has nowhere to go. Even if he bails the kite, he is still attached to the bar with all his weight. He would need to ditch his board. Am I wrong?.

Bruce Buffer, thanks for that video. That's an improvement over the GoPro mounts I've seen in the past. It still makes me nervous attaching the mount to both center lines. Somebody has got to have a better idea???

Slack lines, and line mount camera's are bad news. Had a few goofy tangles when on a wave.
Also find the camera detracts from the kites ability to drift by weighing it down.
I gotta be really jonesin to post some instagram content to wanna ride it most times.

I doubt activating safety would do anything if the board is powering up the bar, you can QR or unhook as long as bar doesn't travel up the safety it won't help.

Only thing he could do is try pulling the leash line depowering kite assuming the line wasn't stuck in board or gopro mount.
I feel like he had time to break with board instead of grabbing line to relaunch kite, instead he kept going over his line.
Anyway. It blaming him, a lot of things can go wrong a bad time wave could have achieved the same thing anyway...

Probably was rigged suicide so no easy way to pull the leash line..
