hi..!! I´m going to TCI with friends from April 28 to May 6 to do kite.
I´ve a 9m kite (Weight 50kg=110 pounds) and my friends have an 11 (80kg=176 pounds) Do you think is enought for winds conditions in may?
We are intermediate riders. Besides Long bay, which other spots do you recommend us? Downwinds to do?
thanks for any information!! Fair winds, Naty

Naty, your kite sizes will probably be too small. Although there are no certainties in life (!), you would be better with a 11-12m and your friend would be better with a 14-17m. TCI usually has very consistent, but lighter east trade winds. Best kiting is Long Bay, and you can do downwinders on the Long Bay side of Provo. Occasionally, the Grace Bay side of the island is kiteable, but only if the wind direction is unusual. Other good spots on other islands are accessible by boat. Call Mike or Chris at Kite Provo for boat excursion info and equipment rentals.

You've chosen a great place to go and kite! Long bay is fantastic as has been said already, as long as you get the winds.
I've never used less than a 12 and I've been 4 times I think but I'm a lot heavier than you so don't read too much into that. Such a relaxed friendly island, you'll love it even if there's not much wind. I'm going again in a few weeks and will be hiring gear this time instead of giving American Airlines the pleasure of charging me a number they pick from thin air.
TCK are fantastic as well and that's who I'll be going to.
Enjoy it.

At 175 lbs I'd want to be taking a 14m to TCI / Maiami.

You might be lucky and get a few days in. There are a lot of spots and options around Miami, some good, some less so. Keep an eye on the forecast and choose the spots which suits for the conditions. Miami is really annoying in that there are some great spots but they've banned kiting, the Rickenbacker on Key Biscayne being one of them. If you get the right conditions try Dania beach and the other spots up that direction as well, they're really good. You could call one of the local shops and go on a boat and ride Stiltsville as well. Not done it myself but I've heard a lot of people say its really good and the history of the place is amazing if nothing else.
Enjoy!
